Introduction

To ensure quality instruction for USF undergraduates and appropriate support for international teaching assistants (ITAs), a week-long workshop will be offered for ITAs. The workshop is designed to strengthen teaching, communication, and intercultural skills of future ITAs in preparation for their departmental duties related to the teaching of undergraduate students. Each participant will be provided a $150 stipend. Both native and non-native speakers of English can benefit from this program. Application now available on the Web.

Eligibility of international students for the workshop

  • be nominated for participation by a department faculty member.
  • be given an instructional assignment for 2008/2009.
  • be available to participate for the entire one week program.

For maximum impact, this program has been designed for no more than 25 participants.

The group will meet daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants will be on their own for lunch from noon to 1:00 p.m. The ITAs will have Tuesday and Thursday afternoon for personal, departmental or University appointments.
